Your Questions, Answered
We know choosing a tutor is a big decision. Here's what other families asked — and how we help.

-
How do I get started with tutoring? It’s easy. Just book your first session using the button on our site, complete the New Client Form, and submit secure payment. From there, we’ll pair your child with a tutor who’s the best match for their needs and personality.
-
What grade levels do you work with?We work with children in grades K–12 and adjust our approach based on their developmental and academic needs. Whether your child is learning to read, mastering fractions, or writing high school essays — we’re here to help.
-
What setup does my child need for a successful session? To get the most out of each session, we recommend a clean, quiet, and well-lit workspace where your child can focus without distractions. They'll need access to a reliable computer or tablet with a stable internet connection and a charger nearby to stay powered throughout the session. Don’t worry — if setting up a productive space feels overwhelming, your child’s tutor will help them adjust and create the right environment for learning.
-
How frequently should I schedule sessions? For consistent growth and lasting progress, we recommend a minimum of two sessions per week. This rhythm helps build momentum, reinforce skills, and maintain focus. Depending on your child’s needs and the level of support you’re looking for, additional sessions may be beneficial — and we’re happy to help you find the right schedule.
-
What makes your tutors different?Every tutor at Whole Child Tutoring is an experienced educator trained in evidence-based strategies, with a deep understanding of child development. They're not just subject experts — they’re mentors who build relationships and support the whole child.
-
Can I meet my child’s tutor before the session? You'll receive an introductory email with details about your child’s tutor before the first session, so you can get to know who they’ll be working with. Your child will officially meet their tutor during that first session, and you’ll have the opportunity to share feedback after each one — we’re here to make sure the match feels right and the experience is positive from the start.
-
Do you only focus on academics? Not at all. While we absolutely support subjects like reading, writing, and math, we also help your child build executive functioning, emotional resilience, and social confidence — because real success happens when we support the whole child.
-
What if my child has ADHD, anxiety, or a learning difference? Our tutors are trained to support all learning styles and needs. We use proven methods tailored to their learning style and emotional needs, building trust, focus, and confidence along the way.
-
What subjects do you offer? We support all academic subjects K-12, executive functioning, and social-emotional learning. Our tutors adapt each session to meet your child’s goals while working at their most effective instructional pace.
-
Is virtual tutoring effective for young kids?Yes — and it can be incredibly engaging with the right approach. Our tutors are trained to work with K–12 learners and use interactive, age-appropriate tools to keep younger students focused, curious, and involved. We also coach them in learning routines that help them stay present and build independence online.
-
Can a tutor help with organization skills?Absolutely. Our tutors help students build executive functioning skills like planning, time management, and task completion. Whether it’s learning to break down big assignments, track homework, or manage a planner, we’ll support your child with tools and strategies they can use right away.
-
How are sessions conducted? All tutoring is done online using our video conference platform, so your child can learn from home or anywhere comfortable. You’ll receive the link ahead of time and support with setup if needed.
-
What if we have tech issues? If there’s ever a tech hiccup, don’t worry — we’ll help troubleshoot or reschedule as needed. We keep communication open and flexible to support your family.
-
How much does tutoring cost? Our sessions start at $100/hour. You’ll receive transparent pricing before booking and can choose between single sessions or ongoing plans.
-
What’s your cancellation policy? We kindly ask for at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule a session. We understand that life happens, and we’re happy to be flexible when we can. However, cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice will be charged in full for the scheduled session. This allows us to respect our tutors’ time and ensure consistent support for all families.
-
How do I make payments?Your payment information is submitted securely online when you book your first session and is safely stored on file. From there, you’ll be automatically billed every two weeks for the sessions your child has used. You’ll receive a confirmation and detailed receipt each time, so you can always stay informed.
